Tim Lowe was born in 1986 and began playing the cello at the age of 5. He was a major music scholar at Eton College and now studies with Louise Hopkins at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Tim has won many awards and prizes including those from the Musicians Benevolent Fund, the Craxton Memorial Trust, Philharmonia Orchestra/Martin Musical Scholarship Fund, Countess of Munster Trust, ECO Duchess of Cornwall Award, Jacqueline du Pre scholarship supported by the Leverhulme Trust and many more. Tim was also a recommended artist for the ‘Making Music’ Phillip and Dorothy Green award in 2009 and has recently won the Maisie Lewis award from the Worshipful Company of Musicians.

As a chamber musician Tim has performed in many major venues including the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, Queen Elizabeth Hall and St John’s Smith Square. His 2010/11 season includes performances of the Dvorak and Schumann concertos and a very full recital schedule with some of the concerts supported by the Countess of Munster recital scheme which will take him right around the country and includes solo Wigmore Hall appearances.

Tim is regularly asked to be Guest Principal cello with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.

Tim is also the holder of the prestigious Silver Medal of the Worshipful Company of Musicians.

Stephen Gutman is recognised as one of Britain’s most brilliant and creative interpreters of modern music. Following his studies at the Royal College of Music, he was awarded first prizes in the Brant Competition and the British Contemporary Piano Competition. He has given the UK premieres of works by Birtwistle, Ligeti and Schnittke among others. He has also commissioned many new works (from Julian Anderson, Michael Finnissy, Simon Holt and Luke Stoneham for example).

He has performed and broadcast widely in Europe as well as in Japan and the USA. He is a Professor of Piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and was the Contemporary Artist in association with the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. He has recorded for the Metronome, NMC and Unknown Public labels.
